- Hopefully this will save someone else some hearbreak. If you intend
- to run ShapeShifter on a 1200, DO NOT TRY TO DO IT IF YOU HAVE A
- PCMCIA RAM CARD INSTALLED!.
-
- ShapeShifter's Mac emulation wants to see only 32 bit RAM in a
- contiguous chunk.
-
- I was having enormous troubles getting SS to work correctly. I was
- getting screen and text character corruption. Disks would not install.
- Words came up with letters missing on the Mac side. etc. etc. It was
- simply unusable and a waste of time.
-
- Then some kind soul suggested to me to yank the PCMCIA RAM card
- and run it with only my 32 bit GVP 1230 RAM and to buy more of it too.
-
- That's what I did. I sold off the card and bought another 4 meg
- GVP SIMM and now SS is happy. Everything runs faster, and without
- any kind of corruption at all.
-
- So you 1200 owners who might have a PCMCIA 16 bit RAM card, do yourselves
- a favor. Don't even try to use SS till you yank the card. It simply
- will never work right with the card in.
